RRFF: Marianella

So excited about the sudden rush of limited edition RRFF dolls being introduce from different shops around the globe. And now from Spain, Marianella.

Marianella is exclusive to Mi Tienda Nelybel. She is the Dianna Effner #2 sculpt, also known as the "Daisy" sculpt. However, Marianella is her own poppet with a completely new face up and gorgeous arctic blue eyes.

Even more exciting, Marianella comes with two removable/interchangeable wigs--a whimsical wig of blonde curls and a long wig in a deep red.

I love both her looks, which is probably why I pre-ordered her right away. Marianella is limited to 106 dolls.

"By the Sea" RRFF Preview

A summery "By the Sea" themed set of RRFF girls is set to debut at the end of the month. Sara, Bella, Maya, and Kayla will all be getting sailor or nautical themed dresses.

The above prototypes show Sara with a little blue octopus friend to go with her blue dress and Bella with a peach seahorse plushie. (ETA: Both with come with a new wig style, please see updates!)

The "Dolly and Me By the Sea" Maya's navy blue and white sailor outfit may come with a matching mini cloth doll, and the same idea of a matching mini cloth doll for "Dolly and Me By the Sea" Kayla's sea green and white outfit. Photos of actual Maya and Kayla dolls in their limited edition outfits should be available soon.

Look for all four dolls at the Happily Ever After booth at the United Federation of Doll Club convention, July 19-23 in Baltimore.

RRFF: A July Mystery?

UPDATED: See bottom for new info as it is released!

This patriotic looking girl has popped up without commentary twice on Happily Ever After's fan group on Facebook. Will she be a new limited edition offered this summer? USA's Fourth of July or perhaps France's Independence Day on July 14th?

Or maybe she is a bit of a Japanese nod to Sailor Moon and/or Japanese school girl outfits. Love the kawaii purse with a plushy bunny friend inside.

July 5th Update: Our mystery girl is named Arana.

Paola Reina - Las Amigas Dolls

Something new for 2021 in the poppet corner. My first Paola Reina doll arrived at the start of the new year! I hope you find her as lovely as I do.

Paola Reina Las Amigas dolls are made in Spain. These poppets are 32 cm in height (12.5 inches) and the basic body moves at the neck, shoulders and hips only. Her hair is rooted and is very thick and lovely. These poppets are relatively inexpensive--a doll without outfit is a mere 20 Euro (24 US Dollars). However, shipping from overseas can double that cost and these dolls are difficult to find in the US.

Purchased through Dolls and Dolls, a company located in Spain, she arrived without incident. Since I knew I'd redress her, I purchased a doll model that comes with no frills and no outfit, this one being labeled "Naomi."

The doll itself is very well made and smells like vanilla. The scent is not too strong and really is delightful. She feels sturdy and can be a play doll for a young child--but with such delightful face sculpts, the Paola Reina Las Amigas doll range is loved by many adult collectors and customizers.

I chose to re-body my PR doll with a more articulated body. The new body she is sporting in the photos is by Darak, a Korean company. The Darak PR body has additional joints at the elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles, as well as optional hand packs. I placed my order in February but the restock did not happen until June, so be prepared to wait if it goes on backorder again!

I love the additional poseability of the jointed body and extra hand sets. There are other jointed bodies available on the market for less than the Darak, but my brief time with the Darak body has me smitten.

My poppet, renamed Lilli when she first arrived in January 2021, is wearing an outfit by TTYA. They have a store on Etsy and their tiny clothing is amazing with stunning teensy details and perfect stitching.

I am pretty certain Lilli will be getting a new friend from the same line soon - double the trouble, double the fun!
