June Tunes: New Items for Tenney and Logan?

Will the summer release on June 22nd feature new outfits for Tenney and Logan?

I have been waiting forever for this sequined dress ensemble.

I like the sharp contrast of the faux velvet red jacket. Mix and match heaven.

The versatility of the red jacket becomes apparent when looking at the cover of Tenney's fourth book (not due out until September 26). Here we see how it can be used as mid-weight outer winter wear. The knit ca and pom are adorable and if AG doesn't make it I may have to search on Etsy for a talented yarnster.

Logan also looks to get a much needed wardrobe change. I love how grown up the outfit it, keeping more with the 14+ crowd.

June is looking good!

Tenney & Taylor: A Perfect Duo

Tenney's Accessories which features her poppet-sized guitar is amazing! AG teamed up with Taylor guitars and everyone wins.

Tenney's guitar is just too beautiful. The flowers and bird stencil design on the front of the guitar over the gorgeous shade of robin's egg blue is stunning. I could stare at and enjoy this lovely design forever.

I have the guitar propped up on the guitar/accessory stand from her Stage & Dressing Room set. The stand also works with her banjo (and her tambourine), so I bought a second stand from the secondary market so both my mini stringed instruments has a safe display option.

The wires are metallic and make a little plink when touched. The tuning pegs turn though do not tune the strings.

The three buttons each play a separate tune when pressed. I loved this guitar even before this amazing feature. The tunes are authentic and kudos to the artist and team who composed and chose this set of tunes for the guitar.

Batteries required! An on/off switch on the left back can help from accidental play, though each tune self-stops after playing its own tune.

The mini guitar by AG is $34, which is a fraction of what the girl-sized American Girl GS Mini by Taylor is selling for...

In all honesty, if I played the guitar or even just had aspirations to learn how to play the guitar, I would already be trying to figure out how to bring this gorgeous full-sized guitar home with me.

Or if I had an eight-year-old daughter (mine is grown) or an eight-year-old granddaughter (none yet) this would be on my spring fling list of gifts to buy.

Well done, AG and Taylor! I hope the sales are robust and we might see similar collaborations in the future.

While I must pass on the larger guitar, the poppet-sized guitar is home with us and well loved!

For all the worries and disappointments over the recent drop in the quality of construction and materials of the AG 18" dolls, this guitar (and its mate, the beautiful banjo) is amazing and showcases everything that originally made me an AG fanatic--excellent, realistic details and gorgeous design.

Hat's Adorable!

A new springtime dress and hat--too adorable.

Ana's dress is by Elite Doll World and her hat and necklace by American Girl. I give the dress by EDW an A+++ and the same for the hat and necklace!

This is also my first time fully setting up the Stage & Dressing Room and it makes a delightful backdrop for photography.

The necklace is simple but spot on. It coordinates perfectly with her bracelet.

This poppet has very striking and bright face paint coloring but I am becoming enamored by her unique look.

Happy girl!

Tenney: Country Blondes

The commonalities between Tenney Grant and Taylor Swift have been commented upon by many and there are some signals that Taylor Swift was on AG's mind while designing Tenney--but there are other interesting inspiration possibilities or coincidences.

Tenney's Book 3 features illustration of both Tenney and her friend Logan. Which has me thinking about another country duo, Scarlett and Gunnar from the show Nashville.

Scarlett and Gunnar from Nashville

The lovely parallels in looks and talents between fictional Scarlett and Gunnar as an aspirating singer-songwriter duo who both sing and play guitar and fictional Tenney and Logan has me putting "Scarlett" on a short list of names for my own Tenney.

So while Swift might be the well known inspiration for Tenney, the sweet curly headed blonde country singer-songwriter ingenue is a real life and fictional trope that has been around longer than even Dolly Parton.

Scarlett from Nashville

Tenney Country: Song Time

AG keeps hitting it out of the park with Tenney's collection and now a sneak peak of a song presumably for Tenney's movie.

The singer-songwriters are performing at the actual Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, the site that plays a big part in Tenney's own story.

Tenney in the Key of Friendship

Sighting of Tenney's first and second books in the wild!

Photo curtesy of Samantha Barker

Tenney's first and second book picture above were located at a Meijer's store. Usually these are errors in pre-shelving of stock since the publication date I read was January 31st. One-two-three run!?

Co-Branding? A Taylor Guitar

It is so rare to see American Girl team up with co-branding that I was surprised to notice Tenney's guitar looks to be a Taylor Guitar!

For those not familiar with guitar manufacturers, Taylor Guitar is a leading guitar company in the United States. Also note that the "Taylor" imprinted on the head stock of Tenney's teal guitar has absolutely nothing to do with Taylor Swift although Swift does play and endorse the Taylor Guitar brand.

Left is Tenney's poppet-sized guitar. Right is an image of the head stock of an actual Taylor guitar.

This seems like extremely smart co-branding--how many young girls will become aware of the Taylor Guitar brand via the toy version and associate the early memories with a brand they wish to use in the future?

I love her whole collection!

Tenney Country: Gorgeous Book Cover!

Gorgeous cover!

Photo shared with permission from @crackingthecover

I love this! I really hope she comes with a teal guitar and of course also a banjo.

One can see some of Tenney' major graphic motifs clearly on her cover--wild roses and vines in the background, roses on her guitar, and a hint of a wild rose inked or decal on the left shoulder of her blue jean vest.

I find it more and more plausible that the earring set sold for Gabriela (which includes an aqua/teal colored rose) was originally designed for Tenney. More on that in a separate post!

First Look: Tenney Grant

Leaked on Facebook Marketplace in Madison, Wisconsin.

She comes in the hideous new box style that debuted with Gabriela.

Tenney's meet is her Sing Your Story tee, which I am so pleased about, primarily because it means I won't have to hunt it down on the secondary market if it had been a giveaway tee. She also is wearing the fabulous ankle boots and embossed pleather skirt, two more of my favorite separates. While not in love with the sleeveless denim jacket, it does seem to add mix-and-match value to Tenney's meet outfit.

New hands! I think AG got it right--subtle change in mold without adding joints to her arm or wrist.

The poppet's left hand looks to be slightly more open than the classic hand mold to accommodate the neck of a banjo or guitar and her right hand mold is slightly more closed to imitate strumming fingers or perhaps even hold a pick. If you look closely at the book images (left of front box inset pix and her full-sized book cover peaking out from behind her legs) you can see her right hand posed in the strumming/picking position.

Her guitar color on the cover of her book is teal. Oh I hope and wish!!!

My quick assessment is I absolutely detest the box and I can't forgive AG for what they have done to Gabriela and Tenney with the awful box. I hope Tenney's other clothing is not ruined by being sewn into terrible boxes. However, because of Tenney's unique hands and what is rumored to be her unique musical accessories to fit in those hands--banjo and guitar--I am a gonner.

I can imagine Tenney's body might become a hit to use as a base for new custom dolls....

A Grand Ol' Tenney Grant Line Up

Plaids, ruffles and lace!

Thank you to Cdaizybug for sharing the photo of her poppets modeling possible Tenney (and Logan!) outfits. It is so wonderful to see the outfits on real models.

I have to say of the line up, I am liking the white lace top and peach tulle skirt ensemble the most.

Will Tenney's meet outfit be one of the ensembles from above or perhaps her "Sing Your Story" orange tee? I am leaning towards her orange tee at the moment.

While I like the white lace top and peach tulle skirt ensemble probably the best at this time and would love for it to be her meet outfit, I don't see it happening, especailly if it is paired up with the sparkle boots. It seems more like a "Special Occasions" type outfit.

A Puppy for Tenney Grant

Now this is an adorable plushie pup! This rose adorned pup is surely for our Tenney.

To be fair, it is hardly a difficult trail to sleuth at this point. But for fun, here is my official documentation of the clues so far.

First, one must note that Tenney's Journal is stenciled with large fully open roses, both on its cover and in its interior pages. I believe one of Tenney's motifs will be roses, the same way we saw hearts and bows as reoccurring motifs for Grace or the compass symbol for Lea. While Tenney is not officially a GOTY, she was originally designated a GOTY and thus we keep seeing these lovely touches in her collection.

The pup also features a collar adorned with two fully opened roses, a dark rose and a smaller magenta open tucked behind it.

For further confirmation, inside the journal, one of Tenney's entries shares that she has a golden retriever named Waylon.

And finally, though the earliest clue, a golden retriever was prominently featured on Tenney's "On the Set" video photo montage posted by American Girl on Instagram.

AG posted the photo montage for just a short period of time and I was fortunate enough to have seen them live and to have screen capture them. Above is the golden retriever and two more from the set I put together as a collage.

While on the on the set image above AG refers to the golden retriever as "Woodford," it seems plausible it is his code name for the eventual Waylon or it is a close variation that changed over production/development of the doll, book and movie.

I love the pup!

American Boy! The Case for Logan Everett

It's a boy!

It's happening!

The case is growing loud and actual for AG to release its first 18" boy doll named Logan Everett.

The speculation on the many social media platforms is that Logan Everett will be American Girl's first 18" boy doll to be released as part of the new modern Contemporary Series on February 9, 2017 along with Tenney Grant.

Logan is a friend of Tenney and both play in the same music (country music?) band together. Logan is a drummer while Tenney is a singer-songwriter whose primary instruments are guitar and banjo.

Both Logan and Tenney will have a new hand mold that allows them to hold their instruments. There are mixed rumors over whether this also means jointed hands or wrists.

Logan will have a drum set as an accessory. Tenney a guitar and banjo. (Squeeeee!)

While Tenney is blonde, Logan will have brown hair.

Looking for more clues to confirm Logan's arrival...

I originally thought this plaid shirt would be for Tenney and dismissed the anomaly of the shirt buttoning left-over-right which is traditionally shirts for men and boys fasten. I assumed it was a prototype mistake. But what if this is a shirt for Logan? An actual "boy" shirt?

Well, my next objection would be the vanity tag of "American Girl" on the lower hem. However, this photo could still be of a prototype and a tag of "American Boy" could be substituted (see Trademarks above) or AG could still just stick with "American Girl" and let Logan cope.

I also thought the Play Loud! Tee was for Tenney, but look at that fully kitted out drum set! Perhaps a band tee for Logan?

Wow! I can't wait for more details!

Touring Tenney Country: Sequins, Lace or Flowers?

Searching high and low for Tenney's meet! Which might it be?

Sing Your Story Tee

This Sing Your Story Tee is a lovely distinctive color and from a production standpoint, cost effective as a simple tee with a simple image. The motto powerfully promotes Tenney's passion as a singer-songwriter. And it is super cute with the little tied bottom hem. This tee was one of the first to leak back in August so it has been around for some time already. Will it be Tenney's meet or will this tee be used as her debut day give-away tee?

Black Sequined Concert Dress

Perfect for Tenney's debut concert. A classy a classic look for a Tenney meet outfit but perhaps a bit over the top for a casual introduction. Or will this sequined number be for dancer Gabriela?

Embroidered Flowers Gathered Blouse

This darling blouse with embroidered flowers  is perhaps the most approachable and adorable casual blouse and would give Tenney a friendly, fresh, country flower charm. Or will this be for Julie? (It doesn't matter to me, it will belong to Tenney one way or another!)

Grey Cotton Shirt (with Lace Pocket Detail)

This seems to be a Tenney shirt but it also seems too muted to be used as a meet outfit. Or perhaps it is merely a TM general release?

Play Loud! Tee

The motto on the Play Loud! Tee seems to capture Tenney's spirit. But it could just as easily be a band tee worn by her friend Logan, a boy doll to be released along with Tenney. Logan is rumored to be a drummer and the tee features a drum set on the front. It seems unlikely to be Tenney's meet outfit. It could be a free give-away tee. Is it even for Tenney or is it for Logan?

Do you have other candidates for Tenney's meet outfit?
